OPM singer Wency Cornejo has shared his thoughts on the controversy surrounding Quezon City 4th District Representative Bong Suntay and actress Anne Curtis, offering a perspective that sparked mixed reactions online.

The issue stems from remarks made by Suntay during a House Committee on Justice hearing on March 3, where he recounted seeing Curtis at a hotel and admitted that he felt a strong desire for the actress, saying he had imagined what might happen but insisted it remained only a thought.
In a Facebook post on Saturday, Cornejo acknowledged that Suntay’s statement was inappropriate but argued that many people reacted with hypocrisy.
“Jusmio! Not that I’m saying hindi mali ginawa ni Suntay—mali talaga ’yun—pero lahat naman tayo nagpapantasya about sex,” Cornejo wrote.
He added that when the congressman verbalized his thoughts, critics suddenly appeared in large numbers.
“Nung na verbalize biglang naglabasan out of the wood works ang mga anay na hipokrito!”
Cornejo also raised what he described as double standards by referencing a priest allegedly linked to pornography, suggesting that the public response to different issues can be inconsistent.
“Yung pari nga nahuli pang mahilig sa porn pero wala lang. Bida bida pa rin siya. Di ba dapat ma-excommunicate na yun or mapatawan man lang ng some sort of kaparusahan?”
He concluded his statement by criticizing what he sees as selective outrage.
“Wala daw double standards. Pweh!”
Curtis earlier addressed the controversy in a public statement, calling Suntay’s words a “vulgar, sexualized analogy” and stressing that her name was used without her consent and in a disrespectful context.
She also said she does not accept what she described as the congressman’s “non-apology.”
The controversy continues to spark debate on social media, with many public figures, celebrities, and women’s rights advocates speaking out about respect for women in public discourse.
