After years of hoping and praying for a child, actress-vlogger Alex Gonzaga finally celebrated a milestone she and husband Mikee Morada had long dreamed of—a baby shower for their first child.
The heartwarming event, which took place on June 7 at an events venue in Taguig City, was featured in a vlog uploaded by Alex’s sister, Toni Gonzaga, on Sunday, June 14.
Titled ‘The Baby Shower I’ve Always Prayed For My Sister,’ the vlog documented the emotional celebration attended by family members and close friends who have witnessed the couple’s journey toward parenthood.
“Nangyari na ang baby shower na matagal ko nang ipinagdarasal para sa kapatid ko,” Toni said in a voiceover at the beginning of the vlog.
The shower featured a blue-and-bear-themed setup, leading some viewers to speculate that the couple may be expecting a baby boy, although Alex and Mikee have yet to publicly reveal the baby’s gender.
“It’s your party, baby. Everybody’s happy for you,” Alex told her unborn child while rubbing her baby bump before heading to the celebration.
Joining the celebration were members of both the Gonzaga and Morada families, including Alex and Toni’s parents, Mommy Pinty and Daddy Bonoy Gonzaga.
Several celebrity friends also attended the event, among them Julia Barretto and her mother Marjorie Barretto, Luis Manzano and wife Jessy Mendiola, Melai Cantiveros and husband Jason Francisco, as well as Mariel Rodriguez.
Also spotted at the gathering were content creators Cong TV and Viy Cortez, social media personality Toni Fowler, and actor-director Fifth Solomon.
The event was hosted by comedian-hosts Bayani Agbayani and Wacky Kiray.
Throughout the celebration, emotions ran high as family members and friends shed tears of joy while sharing the couple’s happiness.
For Alex, the gathering represented much more than a traditional baby shower.
“Itong baby shower na ‘to for me is not just a party pero a celebration of life. Kasama namin ‘yung family na alam namin genuinely sobrang saya para sa amin na finally by God’s grace, nandito na ‘yung blessing, ‘yung baby namin,” she said.
The vlog concluded with Toni delivering an emotional message to her younger sister.
“I promise you kung paano kita minahal, inalagaan at pinrotektahan nung bata ka—” Toni began before the video faded to black, teasing a continuation in the second part of the vlog expected to be released next week.
The celebration holds special significance for Alex and Mikee, who endured multiple pregnancy losses before finally receiving the blessing they had long prayed for.
Alex officially announced her pregnancy on May 23 after years of trying to conceive.
She previously suffered miscarriages in 2021 and 2023. In 2024, Mikee revealed that the couple had experienced a third pregnancy loss.
Despite the heartbreak, the couple remained hopeful and steadfast in their faith.
Now expecting their first child, Alex and Mikee are receiving an outpouring of support from family, friends, and fans who have followed their journey over the years.
The couple tied the knot in 2020 in an intimate home ceremony after four years of dating, and many supporters are now eagerly awaiting the arrival of what Alex described as their long-awaited blessing.
