The stars of Viva One’s ‘Our Yesterday’s Escape’could not hold back their emotions during the series’ media conference as they reflected on finally headlining the sixth and final installment of the hit University Series after waiting nearly three years for the opportunity.

Held at Gateway Mall 2, the event turned into an emotional reunion as cast members from the previous University Series titles gathered to support lead stars Jairus Aquino and Nicole Omillo, who will bring the long-running franchise to its conclusion.
The emotional atmosphere began when Heaven Peralejo, who starred in the first University Series adaptation, ‘The Rain in España’, became teary-eyed while reminiscing about the journey she shared with the cast over the years. Seeing Heaven overcome with emotion also moved Nicole, who likewise shed tears during the event.
Jairus and Nicole became even more emotional after watching the official trailer of ‘Our Yesterday’s Escape’ for the first time. For the pair, the moment marked the realization of a dream they had patiently waited years to achieve.
Following the media conference, Jairus once again broke down while visiting the JaiNicole fan booth at Quantum View inside Gateway Mall 2, where he delivered a heartfelt message of gratitude through a vintage telephone display. His fellow Viva artists—including Wilbert Ross, Gab Lagman, Jerome Ponce, Marco Gallo, Lance Carr, and others—immediately embraced and comforted him, with Ross even handing him tissue as emotions overwhelmed the young actor.
Speaking before fans and members of the media, Jairus admitted that leading the final chapter of the University Series comes with enormous responsibility.
“Mas naramdaman ko ang pressure and, I guess, we would be able to use that pressure to give these people a very good series to close the University Series.”
He added that the cast intends to channel that pressure into delivering their best performances.
“Kabado, but at the same time, we’re gonna use that as fuel to do everything—blood, sweat, and tears. Everything, gagawin talaga namin lahat.”
Nicole also acknowledged feeling both nervous and grateful as the series prepares for its premiere, saying the opportunity to close the beloved franchise is an honor.
“Nakakakaba pero excited… Maybe we’re just really overwhelmed with the love and support we’re getting from everybody, especially we’re the last book. We’ve been waiting for this for almost three years.”

The event also became a celebration of the friendships formed throughout the franchise, with former University Series leads Heaven Peralejo, Marco Gallo, Krissha Viaje, Jerome Ponce, Gab Lagman, Hyacinth Collado, Aubrey Caraan, Lance Carr, Bea Binene, Wilbert Ross, and Francis Magundayao all showing their support for the newest lead pair.
With fans filling the venue and cheering for every cast member, the emotional gathering served as a fitting send-off for one of Viva One’s most successful romance franchises. ‘Our Yesterday’s Escape’, directed by Gino M. Santos, premieres on Viva One on September 5, bringing the University Series to its long-awaited conclusion.
