Comedian Divine Tetay described herself as “apolitical” as she explained why she now prefers to stay away from political discussions and news.

During a recent guest appearance on GMA Network’s vodcast ‘Your Honor,’ Tetay was asked which senator she would “turn off the microphone” on if she were handling the audio during an impeachment trial in the Senate.
Tetay immediately admitted that the question was difficult for her to answer because politics is one of the subjects she deliberately avoids.
“Naku po. ‘Yan pa naman ang ina-avoid ko. Alam mo, that’s really hard to answer,” she said.
She explained that she rarely watches the news nowadays because of the negative emotions it brings.
“I hardly watch the news nowadays because every time you watch it something like not good. Ano ba ‘to? Diyos ko naman,” Tetay said.
Host Chariz Solomon then directly asked her, “So, apolitical ka na?”
“Yeah, I’m apolitical,” Tetay replied.
According to the comedian, she is not the only one in her household who has chosen to distance herself from politics.
“Madami kami sa bahay, we’re apoliticals. Hindi mo na alam kung sino nagsasabi ng totoo. Bahala na kayo diyan,” she said.
Despite choosing to disengage from political discussions, Tetay said she continues to pray for government officials.
“The only thing I do, I still pray for them everyday. Seriously,” she shared.
Her remarks eventually circulated on X, where netizens expressed mixed reactions, with several criticizing her decision to identify as apolitical.
Some questioned whether staying away from politics was appropriate amid major national issues, while others speculated about the reasons behind her position.
Tetay’s latest remarks also caught attention because she had publicly supported former Vice President and now Naga City Mayor Leni Robredo during the 2022 presidential election campaign.
