Viewers were left heartbroken after the unexpected exit of Shuvee Etrata’s character, Tonet, in GMA Prime’s action-drama series The Master Cutter.
Tonet quickly became a fan favorite for her cheerful personality, her motherly care for Ibyang (Sienna Stevens), and her amusing dream of becoming the girlfriend of Atoy, played by Dingdong Dantes.

However, the story took a dramatic turn after Tonet discovered that Janine (Erikka Laude) was not the biological daughter of Atoy and Audrey (Max Collins). Her discovery set off a series of intense confrontations, action-packed chase scenes, and desperate attempts to expose the truth.
The emotional storyline ultimately ended with Tonet’s death, surprising many viewers who had grown attached to the character.
Following the episode, fans took to social media to express their disappointment over the twist, with many describing Tonet as the show’s “happy pill.”

One viewer wrote: “Still hoping na sana it’s just a story twist, na tinago muna siya until she can reveal the truth. (P.S. Gagaling ng mga artista ng MC, hats off!!)”
Despite her character’s tragic ending, Etrata expressed gratitude for being part of the series and for the overwhelming support she received from viewers.
“Thank you so much sa lahat ng sumubaybay at nagmahal sa journey ni Tonet. Napakalaking bagay po sa akin ng proyektong ‘to. Dito po ako natuto, nag-grow, at mas nakilala ko kung sino ako bilang artista.”
She added that the experience had helped her grow both personally and professionally.
“Daghan kaayo kog nakat-unan, and I know dadalhin ko lahat ng ‘yon sa mga susunod ko pang gagawin.”
Etrata’s portrayal of Tonet earned praise throughout the series, with many viewers commending her for bringing warmth, humor, and heart to one of The Master Cutter’s most beloved characters.
