OPM veterans The Company and Neocolours are finally sharing one concert stage—and it appears their collaboration wish list does not end with each other.
During the media conference for their upcoming joint concert, ‘Pakisabi Na Lang, Tuloy Pa Rin!,’ members of both groups revealed that they are open to working with today’s P-pop acts, particularly SB19.
The October 8 concert at the Newport Performing Arts Theater brings together two groups behind some of OPM’s most enduring songs. And if the sample they performed during the press conference was any indication, audiences can expect more than separate sets of familiar hits.
The Company and Neocolours treated the media to a mashup of Neocolours’ ‘Tuloy Pa Rin’ and The Company’s ‘Pakisabi Na Lang,’ immediately offering a taste of how their distinct musical identities could work together onstage.
According to The Company’s Sweet Plantado, a collaboration with Neocolours had been on their minds for some time.
“Nung nag-uusap kami, sabi namin, sino pa kaya ang gusto naming maka-collab. Marami pa kaming dream na maka-collab. And then, na-mention nga ang Neocolours, and yes agad kami,” Sweet recalled.
She said things quickly fell into place after they reached out to Neocolours’ Ito Rapadas, with Echo Jam Entertainment Production eventually helping turn the idea into a full concert.
Ito likewise shared that the two groups had long considered working together, but their respective schedules previously made it difficult to push through.
Interestingly, the conversation eventually shifted from their generation of OPM to the current P-pop scene.
Asked if they would be interested in collaborating with SB19, The Company did not hesitate.
Annie Quintos revealed that some SB19 fans have actually been encouraging such a crossover.
“Ang mga fans talaga ang nagsasabi na gawin niyo ito, collab ito. And yes, we are open, at we love to work with SB19,” Annie said.
Sweet then jokingly quipped, “Matututo kayo sa amin! Hahahaha!”
Moy Ortiz quickly added: “At matututo rin kami sa kanila!”
For Moy, The Company is not limiting itself to a particular generation or genre when it comes to potential collaborators.
“We’re really hopeful that something that’s meant to be funny, can be taken seriously. But you know what, with anyone and anything and any genre, we are open, as long as mabait ang artista!” he said.
A The Company-SB19 collaboration would certainly make for an interesting meeting of generations, with both groups known for their vocal arrangements, harmonies, and live performances.
While a full The Company x SB19 collaboration remains a possibility for now, Neocolours’ Jimmy Antiporda revealed that he already has an upcoming project involving the P-pop group.
According to Jimmy, he composed a song that SB19 will perform for the Filipino-centric animated film ‘Forgotten Island.’
“May upcoming akong sinulat na kanta na kakantahin ng SB19. Para ’yon sa isang pelikula sa America, ang ‘Forgotten Island’. Ako ang composer noon!” Jimmy revealed.
The upcoming animated film prominently features Filipino culture and includes Filipino and Filipino-American talents in its voice cast.
Meanwhile, The Company also teased another major collaboration that they are not yet allowed to reveal.
“That’s our ultimate dream come true. It’s an amazing collab! It’s huge!” Moy teased.
Before those future collaborations happen, however, the spotlight belongs to The Company and Neocolours.
‘Pakisabi Na Lang, Tuloy Pa Rin!’ happens on October 8 at 8 p.m. at the Newport Performing Arts Theater.
The concert promises to combine the groups’ respective catalogs, signature harmonies, and collaborative performances in a night built around the OPM songs that have remained familiar across generations.
Beth Martin and Jimmy Antiporda will serve as musical directors, while Calvin Neria will direct the concert.
The show is produced by Echo Jam Entertainment Production, headed by Mhae Sarenas.
Part of the concert proceeds will also benefit San Antonio de Padua Parish in Malabon City and Santo Rosario Parish.
Tickets are priced at ₱10,500 for Platinum, ₱8,500 for SVIP, ₱6,500 for VIP, ₱5,500 for Gold, ₱3,500 for Silver, and ₱2,000 for Bronze, available through TicketWorld.
