Filipino pop-punk/pop-rock band Android-18 is gearing up for a new chapter in its 15-year journey as the group officially signs with new management while working on its third full-length album.
Formed in Rizal in 2011, Android-18 is composed of Gela on vocals, Niokz, Kokoy and Makoi on guitars, Kevs on bass, and Ian on drums.
The band, signed under Yellow Room Music Philippines, has built a loyal following in the local independent music scene through its energetic live performances, catchy melodies and relatable songwriting.
Android-18 is currently back in the studio recording its third full-length album following a brief hiatus due to health concerns. The new material marks the band’s return to active music-making as it looks to expand its audience in the Philippines and overseas.
Coinciding with the band’s return is its signing with new management, signaling another stage in Android-18’s career more than a decade after it first emerged from Rizal’s independent music scene.
The group is also preparing for another international engagement this September, when it heads to Thailand under Yellow Room Music Philippines alongside Filipino rock band Mayonnaise.
The Thailand show follows Android-18’s first international performance in Taiwan in 2025, a milestone that helped introduce the band to audiences outside the Philippines.
Android-18’s career dates back to 2011, with the group achieving several early milestones shortly after its formation.
The band won the Muzikademy Championship in 2012 and represented the Greater Manila Area in Red Horse Muziklaban that same year. In 2015, Android-18 was recognized as Best Live Act at the Philippine Indie Rock Awards.
Over the years, the group has also toured different parts of the Philippines while maintaining the DIY spirit that helped establish its identity in the country’s pop-punk community.
Among Android-18’s best-known songs are “Teleserye,” “Alanganin,” “KSP,” “Sentimental” and “Langit.”
Its catalog has generated more than 2 million streams on Spotify, with the band attracting over 55,000 monthly listeners. Android-18 has also amassed more than 40,000 followers on Facebook.
Now entering its 15th year, Android-18 is looking to build on those milestones with new music, new management and more opportunities beyond the local scene.
With its third album in the works and another overseas performance on the horizon, the band is positioning 2026 as the beginning of a fresh phase while remaining rooted in the pop-punk sound and connection with fans that have sustained it since 2011.
