Many viewers noticed that It’s Showtime started missing one of their hosts. Kim Atienza has been missing in action for a long time. However in an interview during the Pinoy Komiks Heroes Battle app launching, Kuya Kim revealed his reason behind his departure.
He wanted to strengthen his brand as Kuya Kim, the knowledge expert.
During the said app launch from ABS-CBN and Xeleb Technologies, Kuya Kim remarked that he wanted to focus on his brand.
“I left Showtime because I want to work on the equity that makes me strong as Kuya Kim and I’m Kuya Kim because the brand is Kuya Kim who gives trivia, Kuya Kim na pumalit kay Ernie Baron, the ‘Trivia King’ and I would like to focus on that.”
Kuya Kim noted that his departure made his other two shows in ABS-CBN Corporation even stronger. He also added that he had a chance to meet with famous Kalinga tattoo artist, Apo Whang Od.
“If you noticed naman after I left Showtime my segment in TV Patrol is much stronger, I was able to put in more effort. And Matanglawin I am able to travel now, nakapunta ako kay Whang Od. Ang tagal ko ng hindi nakaka-travel for Matanglawin eh. Those shows strengthened Kuya Kim as the knowledge expert and as a brand.”
Kuya Kim stressed that he would happily come back to It’s Showtime if they really need him.
“Showtime is just there. It’s not naman forever kumbaga hindi naman ako nagpaalam. Anytime I’ll be needed, nandiyan lang ako.”
Kuya Kim shared that he still meets with his It’s Showtime co-hosts when their time allows it.
“Yung Showtime kasi, si Anne and the rest, talagang ano ‘yan, they are family to me, and I still see them naman even I’m not on Showtime eh. That’s my consolation na langeven I’m not there everyday.”
