Ken Chan will have a special participation in the new Kapuso drama series, The Cure. Although it’s just a special participation, he expressed his excitement on having most of his scenes with Jaclyn Jose. He also added that he learned a lot from the veteran actress. He explained rumors regarding his alleged homosexuality. Ken sustained that this rumor probably came when he top-billed as a transgender in Destiny Rose.
Ken shared that on the first day, he felt nervous as he didn’t want to embarrass himself in front of her. He commended Jaclyn for making him feel comfortable.
“Nung first day na alam kong makaeksena ko si Tita Jaclyn, lahat ng lines ko sinaulo ko. Ayokong magkamali. Awa ng Diyos, hindi naman… Pero alam mo sobrang bait ni Tita Jaclyn na kahit magkamali ka okay lang. Sobra niyang bait at saka lagi siyang nagdyu-joke.”
Ken shared that he liked his role in The Cure because he will be challenged in action scenes. The Cure will serve as training for an afternoon drama-action series he will star in.
“Excited po ako dun. Paprang training ko po ‘tong The Cure kasi action siya at iyung gagawin ko po sa next teleserye ko is action. So, excited po talaga ako.”
If Ken was able to play the role as a transgender woman in Destiny Rose, he could absolutely do an action scene. However, many doubt Ken on starring in an action as there were rumors that he may be gay.
“Hindi naman po ako naiinis dahil alam ko naman po sa sarili ko kung ano yung totoo. I think kaya nila naisip yun kasi I did Destiny Rose. At hanggang ngayon ang Destiny Rose sa Thailand pinapalabas pa.”
Ken shared that he never felt ashamed of Destiny Rose. He never had a doubt on himself after starring in the said series.
“Hindi ko ikinahihiya yung Destiny Rose. Hindi ako nagkaroon ng doubt sa sarili ko after Destiny Rose. I’m just really happy na may ganung doubt sa akin ang mga tao kasi ibig sabihin na-convince ko sila sa role ko, and I’m really happy with that.”
Ken is still single after his break-up with a non-showbiz girlfriend during his Destiny Rose days. This may also contribute to the rumors circulating around.
“Ang sarap maging single kaya… Totoo po. Masarap maging single at masarap kiligin yung…alam mo yun. Hindi naman sa naglalaro, pero parang high school na kiligin. Kasi pag pumasok ka na sa isang relationship, kayo na.”
Ken would rather have a non-showbiz girlfriend.
“Non-showbiz girl po sana. Walang kinalaman sa modeling industry, walang kinalaman sa showbiz. Gusto ko simple lang. Kung puwede estudyante, estudyante na. Ang totoo, gusto ko tahimik, eh… Naranasan kasi ng Mama at Papa ko, e. Nagkaroon ako ng girlfriend na showbiz, kahit papano pati sila nadamay, nagulo din yung buhay nila. Nahirap din sila para sa akin. Alam nila kung gaano kahirap, So, sinabihan ako ng Mama at Papa ko na kung maaari, kung magkaroon ka ng girlfriend, sana non-showbiz para mas tahimik.”
