“Mukha” takes a peek into their lives and dreams in a four-part documentary series about child labor in the Philippines – ‘Musmos’

Instead of focusing on their studies or playing like other kids their age, some children are forced to work to help their parents put food on their table, and as a result, are deprived of their childhood.

Take a peek into their lives and dreams in “Musmos,” a four-part documentary series about child labor in the Philippines in “Mukha,” every Monday night this November on ABS-CBN.

Mukha's child labor series this November features the stories of Marlo, Ilo, and Noemie

This Monday (Nov 10), get to know 15-year old Marlo, who pushes trolleys on the railroad tracks to earn a few pesos from passengers in their small community in Lucena City. Despite the challenges at work and in school, he still passes his classes with flying colors, and even dreams of becoming a civil engineer some day.

Follow the story of Ilo, a 13-year old boy who toils for hours under the scorching sun to cut sugarcane in the fields of Nasugbu, Batangas. While he is one of the lucky few who ARE still in school, he’s not doing so well in his studies. It is not surprising since he is either absent or too tired to focus on the lessons. Catch his story on November 17.

On November 24, meanwhile, “Mukha” features 13-year old Noemie, the seventh of twelve children, who scavenges from their place in Happyland to Quiapo in the wee hours of the morning. She has had to endure a bitter life, and lives in constant fear of being put up for adoption by her mother, a fate that has already befallen two of her siblings.

Don’t miss the “Mukha’s” documentary series on child labor, Monday nights in November 11PM after “Bandila” sa ABS-CBN. For updates, follow @MukhaTV on Twitter or like www.facebook.com/MukhaTV.
