  • Ogie Alcasid’s leaving the show gave more casting space and made guests stars regular mainstays
  • Cast members are thankful for the successful years of ‘Bubble Gang’
  • The show is the longest-running sketch comedy on Philippine television, having been on air for 22 years and counting

GMA Networks ‘Bubble Gang’ is the longest running gag show in Philippine television. The show celebrated its 22nd-anniversary show last year, entitled “Bubble Gang’s Parokya Na ‘To: A Laugh Story.”

And just this February 15, they had a staged musical play at the Waterfront Resort & Hotel.

During the re-staging of the play, an interview by PEP.ph was conducted with stars Paolo Contis, Chariz Solomon, Valeen Montenegro, and Betong. Reminiscing about the time they started, they shared about the moments when Ogie Alcasid left the show. They jokingly said that Ogie’s separation gave more opportunities for the guest cast to be regularized, stating that this is because of his big talent fee.

Paolo said, “Yun nga nung lumipat si Ogie doon kami naging regular members. Kasi palagi kaming regular guest.”

Chariz added, “Yung TF [talent fee] ni Ogie, pinaghatian naming tatlo.”

Betong also said, “Sa laki ng suweldo ni Kuya Ogie, nakapasok po kami. Kuya Ogie maraming salamat po. Biruin mo ang dami naming nakapasok at naging regular.”

“Dati ang Bubble Gang, ang cast niyan 12. Ngayon 22 na. Ang daming nadagdag. Ganon po kalaki yung sweldo ni Kuya Ogie,” said Betong.

Previously, two of the original cast members Ogie Alcasid and Michael V. had an exclusive interview with Jessica Soho, GMA News anchor. Ogie shared that it was not easy for him to leave the show because the members are already like a family to him, especially leaving behind one of his closest friends Michael V. While Michael V responded with a joke saying it was part of the show.

In a recent interview, Michael V shared his thoughts on the transfer of couple  Regine Velasquez and Ogie Alcasid. He said, “And yung decision nila, I think it’s for the best. Hindi lang para sa kanila kundi para sa audience.”
