- Arnold Clavio discussed the comeback of his puppet Arn-arn on Unang Hirit

Unang Hirit newscaster Arnold Clavio recently answered questions from the entertainment press about the morning show’s celebration of its 20th anniversary this December.
Clavio, one of the show’s pioneer hosts, revealed that his puppet and alter-ego Arn-arn will soon be making a comeback just in time for the show’s anniversary.
Reminiscing the show’s fresh start, Clavio narrated that it was his suggestion to introduce Arn-arn as a “socially aware” puppet.
“Ako yung nag-suggest na Arn-arn. Nung unang meeting nang binubuo yung Unang Hirit,” he recalled.
On why the puppet was later scrapped from the show, Clavio explained, “Tinanggal, siyempre may reklamo din mula sa gobyerno. Kasi yung mga punch line niya kakaiba eh.”
According to him, Arn-arn was also the first of its kind to interview a president. He and the puppet interviewed former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo in 2015.
Though Arn-arn went into hiatus for a time, Clavio shared that people often call him by the name of the puppet and at times, Aiza Seguerra since he has a resemblance to the singer.
“Talagang paplanuhin namin dahil hinahanap din siya ng mga bata at talagang ako kahit nasaan ako, kahit matagal na akong wala sa exposure, minsan may nagtatawag pa rin sa’ yo Arn-arn, minsan Aiza. Talagang ganun eh.Tanggapin mo na yun kung nakakapagbigay saya,” he stated.
He clarified that he does not find it offensive for him to be called an Aiza lookalike.
“Pag nagkikita kami ni Aiza diba Nuks! Tawagan naman namin Nuks. Kaya okay lang sa akin yun.”

Aside from Unang Hirit, Clavio currently co-anchors GMA Network’s late-night newscast, Saksi, with Pia Arcangel and hosts a morning radio show called Dobol A sa Dobol B on DZBB with Ali Sotto. He also writes a column entitled Hirit Na! for the tabloid newspaper Abante.
