Kapamilya actor-host Luis Manzano came to the defense of his girlfriend Jessy Mendiola after the actress was bashed by a netizen who questioned her financial capability.
On Saturday, December 5, Jessy posted on her Instagram account a photo of herself wearing an expensive wristwatch.
One rude netizen questioned the financial capability of the actress and asked, “How can she afford a Patek?”
Patek Philippe SA is a Swiss luxury watch and clock manufacturer. Reportedly, only 50,000 watches from Patek Philippe are produced a year.

According to an article by Philnew.ph, the Patek watch price ranges from $18,000 to $11,000,000 making it the most expensive or Php 865,359.00 to Php 528,830,500.00 approximately as per recent conversion rate.
The rude comment caught the attention of Jessy as she replied saying that she can afford the expensive watch because she works hard.
“Because I work hard and save a lot? Lol,” she wrote in the comments.
Luis also slammed the basher calling him ‘bobo’ [idiot] as he said that the netizen needed to buy a brain to understand.
“Work and save [until] you can buy or enjoy what you want in life no matter what they may be. Napaka bobo mo naman if di mo gets yun, pabili ka utak ngayong 12.12 sale. Work and save para [ma-afford] mo rin,” he said.
However, the netizen retorted that Luis became so defensive when he was just asking a question to Jessy.
“Bakit ka defensive? Nagtatanong lang ah?” the rude netizen said.
The actor-host simply replied saying, “12.12, add to cart – brain.”
Luis also gave his response to a netizen who urged that he should just slap the rude netizen with a taxi and gasoline station. He said that one should just work hard in life to afford the things that one likes.
“Basta may trip ka sa buhay, kesyo simple o hinde, pagtatrabuhan mo yun at pag-iipunan,” he said.
Jessy Mendiola has been in the showbiz industry for over a decade now that’s why netizens said she has saved up enough money to buy luxury products.
She has starred in several TV series such as Sabel (2010), Budoy (2011), and Maria Mercedes (2013). She recently had a fitness and lifestyle show broadcast on TV5 called “Fit for Life.” The show premiered on August 16, 2020, and aired its final episode on November 1, 2020.
