Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez-Alcasid is admired for her exceptional singing voice and natural acting ability which led to many opportunities that made her showbiz career so successful.
From hosting a talent search show to starring in her own teleserye, Regine has proved her worth on GMA Network and has remained loyal and grateful to the station after all these years.
In a recent interview by PEP, Regine expressed her gratitude to the Kapuso network. In the video, she explained how the station has supported her all these years.
For Regine, the most unforgettable testament to the kind of support and understanding that GMA Network has given her was during the time of her pregnancy. It was on April 2011 that Regine and her husband Ogie Alcasid publicly announced that a baby was on the way.
As soon as executives from GMA Network heard that the Regine will soon be a mom, they immediately considered her predicament and offered her a break. Having your first pregnancy at 40 is risky with complications that can affect both the unborn child and mother. GMA executives particularly Atty. Felipe Gozon who is the CEO and chair of the Kapuso network, showed genuine concern on Regine’s situation and advised her to rest for the sake of her health and that of her baby.
During this time, Regine had her hands full with a teleserye project that had good ratings. “I Heart You Pare” was a romantic comedy daily TV series that featured Regine and Dingdong Dantes. With her pregnancy, Regine was able to finish taping for the first nine weeks and her role was passed on to Iza Calzado.
Regine recalled that GMA Network has always been very good to her. She then realized that it is not easy to just quit on a teleserye project on primetime and know that it would be such an inconvenience for the Kapuso network to find someone to replace her in such a short time.
After giving birth, Regine wanted to spend time with her son Nate and provide undivided attention to their bundle of joy at this very tender age. With no hesitation, GMA Network provided its unwavering support and extended her leave of absence to fulfill her motherly duties.
Another project was already lined up for the Songbird and that is the return of the hit “Encantadia” fantasy TV series. This project was put on hold in consideration of what Regine Velasquez truly wanted which was to become a devoted mother to Nate.
Regine never felt any pressure from her Kapuso network family. She said she was given all the time in the world to be a mom. There was no demand from GMA Network, only understanding and genuine concern for Regine. For a while, the “Encantadia” project was put on hold until Regine was ready to shoot this magical teleserye for GMA Network.
Fans are excited to see Regine on a teleserye again or in other projects, especially since she just signed a two-year exclusive contract with GMA Network on January 4, 2016.
For all the understanding and considerations she gets from her Kapuso family, especially during her pregnancy and bonding time with her baby Nate, Regine has nothing but good words for GMA Network. This is the reason why she remains loyal to GMA and the newly signed contract with the Kapuso network says it all.
