Ashley Diaz and Andre Yllana, Viva’s newest love team, admitted on Monday, September 27, that they feel pressured to do great now that they are in the entertainment industry.
Ashley, the 17-year-old daughter of actor Joko Diaz, said she got mixed emotions upon discovering that her onscreen partner would be Andre.
“Ako po siguro po kinabahan po ako pero like na-excite din po ako at the same time.”
She reasoned that Andre’s mother, Aiko Melendez, was a good friend of her dad, which in turn added to the pressure of being paired with the actress’s son.
“Kasi po parang lagi ko pong napapanuod si tita Aiko tapos friend din po ni papa. So parang bigatin so parang nakaka-pressure ng little bit pero super bait naman po ni Tita Aiko.”
Meanwhile, Andre, 23, said he got scared that Ashley’s dad might beat him up–if he fails to do his job well.
“Ako po natatakot po talaga ako baka gulpihin ako bigla ni tito eh, hehe!” he joked
Kidding aside, Andre said the pressure is ‘real’ for them both–since they come from a family of artists. The public expects a lot from them.
“S’yempre po ano… naging parang pressure dahil ako po anak ng artista tapos anak din si Ashley ng artista. So parang… alam n’yo po yung tingin po ng tao ang taas ng expectations. So kailangan po naming ma-fulfill ang mga expectations ng tao,” he stressed.
Recently, Aiko revealed that her son is very thoughtful through a long sweet letter. Ashley then vouched for Andre’s thoughtfulness after she experienced it first-hand.
“Yung kay Andre po, I’d like to vouch din po sa post ni Tita Aiko na very thoughtful nga po talaga ni Andre and naramdaman ko po ito kapag nasa set at kapag nangangamusta po s’ya,” she said.
The two also have established a camaraderie on-cam and off-cam. But with loveteams having a cliché of turning from reel to real, Ashley stressed that she wants to be friends with her partner no matter what happens.
“For me po s’yempre po, gusto po sana namin—napag-usapan naman din namin ‘to before na if anything happens, we want to stay friends po talaga.”
Andre also agreed but hinted that “no one knows what the future holds.”
“Ako naman po say ko d’yan, kung ano man po ang dumating, edi tanggapin lang po natin.
“Hindi po natin masabi, malay mo panain po tayo ni kupido tapos ayun tinamaan, hindi natin masabi eh.
“Pero yun nga po, yung promise namin sa isa’t-isa na we’d stay friends whatever happens.”
In the meantime, AshDre is part of the newest TV5 teleserye Di Na Muli which is headlined by Julia Barretto, Marco Gumabao, and Marco Gallo under the direction of director Andoy Ranay.
