On Friday, January 21, former It’s Showtime “Miss Q&A” Kuya Escort, Greg Hawkins, expressed his thoughts three years after he was unexpectedly removed from the noontime show.
However, he is not blaming anyone for what happened.
There were many speculations as to why he was replaced in the segment back in 2018, including problems involving his work documents and the alleged involvement of Vice Ganda.
He was replaced by Ion Perez, Vice Ganda’s boyfriend, as Kuya Escort.
In a lengthy Facebook post, Hawkins was “exhausted” by It’s Showtime fans’ clamor asking about his return to the show.
After being replaced in the show, he was devastated but said he didn’t want to exact revenge on the people who had hurt him.
“If I start naming names, first of all, that’s gossip. Secondly, I open myself up to legalities for as long as I’m here in the Philippines. I’m not interested in “outing” people or getting revenge. I’ve been wronged and violated in some ways, but it’s not in my nature to hold grudges. Nor was it how I was raised.”
Hawkins also admitted that he did have problems with his work documents, but the rest of the issues were not.
The American-Korean model also understands the nature of his previous work and pointed out that after his stint in the show, he had a number of projects from GMA Network and TV5 and a modeling job with Bench.
“I have had an entire career outside of Showtime that gets no recognition. I was in FIVE other television shows, as a lead, support, etc. I modeled for Bench! I was on something like 20+ billboards. I was on GMA, TV5.”
Unfortunately, he could not break out from being the original Kuya Escort which discouraged him from pursuing his career.
“I’ve done so much to try to break out of being typecast as a Kuya Escort. It’s discouraging,” he shared.
He may now have a different career but is still grateful for his experience in It’s Showtime.
“My priorities have changed. My family and loved ones are all I care about. That’s who I will work to protect and who I will base my career off on helping.”
As the wheels of fate have turned, Hawkins urged his fans not to blame anyone.
“And don’t blame Vice, don’t blame Ion, don’t blame anyone. When I took the job from Yam, he handled it with class and respect. So did John Paul when Yam took it from him.
That’s all. Be good,” he ended.
In the meantime, Hawkins does live streaming on the video-sharing platform TikTok.
