Kapuso actress Aiko Melendez, on October 14, explained why she returned to showbiz after winning her bid for the councilor post in Quezon City’s fifth district.

Melendez ran for office as one of the councilors for Quezon City’s fifth district during the 2022 elections.

At the media conference for Mano Po Legacy: The Flower Sisters, she considered her showbiz career her ‘bread and butter.’

“Hindi ko naman pinagkakakitaan ang pulitika eh, ang showbusiness kasi is my bread and butter and this is where I get my money to spend kung anong gusto kong bilhin, kung mayroon akong goal, dito ko kinukuha.”

She also clarified that she let her constituents know about her plan to return to her acting career.

“So kailangan kong bumalik, in fact nag post ako sa Facebook ko dati, nagpaalam naman ako sa constituents ko, na sana payagan nila ako, kasi ‘yung half naman ng kikitain ko, ipangtutulong ko rin naman sa kanila. Para sa kanila rin.”

As for the series Mano Po Legacy: The Flower Sisters, she stars with Beauty Gonzalez, Angel Guardian, and Thea Tolentino. The cast includes Mikee Quintos, Paul Salas, Isabel Rivas, Bodjie Pascua, Johnny Revilla, Tanya Garcia, Sue Prado, Rafael Rosell, Marcus Madrigal, Miggs Cuaderno, Will Ashley, Carlo San Juan, Dustin Yu, Kimson Tan, Reins Mika, Sandro Muhlach, Yvette Sanchez, Sophia Senoron, Larkin Castor, and Cheska Fausto.

Ian Loreños directs while Jose Javier Reyes writes the story of Mano Po Legacy: The Flower Sisters premieres on GMA Network on October 31.
