Elha Nympha believes reinventing one’s career is not being ungrateful

Young Kapamilya singer Elha Nympha seemingly gave her sentiments on the latest hot topic about changing career paths and image rebranding.

In a series of tweets on Wednesday, March 1, the former The Voice Kids grand winner shared that following your one’s career path does not necessarily mean being ungrateful, but taking control of one’s decisions and aspirations.

“Following what your heart wants is really important lalo na if you’re not happy sa ginagawa mo, workplace mo and field mo. I believe following your own path is not showing na ungrateful ka, it’s just that we have our own decisions and dreams.”

She also argued that artists should be free to explore things they need to do and to find out who they [really] are as artists.

“We have to let artists to explore their talent di naman forever same gagawin namin diba? Process po kasi yun mahanap namin sarili namin sino ba ako as an artist ano ba pa ang maipapakita ko if mag try ako ng iba’t ibang tunog.”

In her last tweet, Nympha said she felt sorry for other artists who are being judged after choosing to follow what they really wanted for their careers.

“Naaawa lang po ako sa iba na najujudged dahil pinili nila ang sarili nila at kung ano gusto nilang gawin sa buhay. That’s why i used this platform para naman malaman niyo ano feeling nun lalo na at isa po akong artista/singer na hinahanap parin hanggang ngayon ang tunong niya”

While she did not mention any name or topic, Nympha’s statements came on the heels of the much-talked-about This Is Me vlog by Liza Soberano.

In the vlog, Soberano shared her struggles in her showbiz career and how she wanted freedom to do what she really wanted. She also pointed out how everything got decided for her, including her screen name.

“I had always been told what to do, what to wear, what to say and what not to say. I know this was for my own good. It was to protect me and my career, but it was a career that I had no say in. A career that in many ways wasn’t mine. I didn’t even choose the name Liza. It was chosen for me.”

She also added that for all the films and teleseryes she did, there was not a single time that she got asked about her thoughts and input.

“I’ve been in six feature films, over 500 episodes of teleseryes and have only really dabbled into three main genres: romance, comedy and drama. And since I was 16, I had only really worked side by side with one main co-star, with the same production company, rotating around the same three directors and during all those years, I was never really asked for my input, my thoughts, my ideas.”

Towards the end, the former Kapamilya star said this is the right time to finally become free and be able to do things for herself after sacrificing her childhood, freedom, and happiness.

“I’ve sacrificed my childhood. I’ve sacrificed my freedom and I’ve sacrificed my happiness to present Liza Soberano to the world and I think I’ve earned the right to finally be me, to finally be able to do things for me as Hope Soberano.”

Soberano’s vlog earned mixed reactions from netizens, with many criticizing her for being ungrateful to whom she worked with to earn her keeps and attain her current status in the industry. Others, however, chose to support the 25-year-old star’s chosen path.
