On May 4, Kapuso fashion icon Heart Evangelista highlighted how her husband, former senator Francis ‘Chiz’ Escudero, supported her goal of becoming more independent.
At the media event for her endorsement deal with ZION Philippines, which LionhearTV covered, Evangelista detailed how she changed throughout the years, becoming more independent and mature.
“I’ve come a long way. I feel like– before, I would say I’m 30 ganyan, but I have a mind of a 21-year-old. I’m 38, but I feel like I have the mind of a 50-year-old. I feel like I had a lot of learning to do with my job.Â
“I feel like I’m on top of everything. And I love being on top of everything. I like the feeling na you can drop me off anywhere, and I will survive. I never used to travel by myself– but now I travel by myself.Â
“Iniiyakan ko ‘yung connecting flight sa Dubai, ‘yung train, ay umiyak na ko, puno na ko ng pantal before, now I can do anything. Anything you want.”
She appreciated Escudero’s support in her journey of becoming more self-reliant.
“I really, really appreciate /the people like my husband, who is very supportive of me being a late bloomer, but you know, being independent and really/ learn to survive on my own. I love it– I feel really empowered. I’m still very sweet, but I know when to put my foot down. And I will fight for myself this time around, and I like that, I really like that.”
As for their trips as a couple, Evangelista hinted at her upcoming travels with Escudero.
“I am actually leaving on the 13th. Yes, I’d also be with Chiz kasi– he has an event in Venice and then after that, I go back to Paris, and I have an event in Italy for a brand, so I’m very excited– work ng work.”Â
Escudero and Evangelista tied the knot in February 2015.Â
