Through a Facebook Live seen last June 24 on the official page of TVJ (Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, Joey de Leon), Joey de Leon responded to bashers demanding their retirement from show business.
“Kaya yung mga nagsasalita na mga… buwisit, didiretsuhin ko na. May ilan lang yan, eh. Yung, ‘Uy, ang tatanda niyo na, pagbigyan niyo na yung mga bata.’ Well, ito para sa yo to… Ah, ‘ikaw puwede ka na palang ilibing’, yung ganu’n. Tumahimik ka na kasi, ito may galit na ako, eh, kasi pakialamera o inggitera kayo, inggitero kayo o pakialamero.”
De Leon argued that age does not matter when it comes to working and that people should not discourage those who still want to work.
“Ang tao, hanggang gustong gumalaw, pabayaan mong gumalaw. Kung gustong magtrabaho, pabayaan mong magtrabaho,” he said.
He further snaps back claiming that their bashers will only understand them once they (the bashers) become older themselves.
“Pag nagkakaedad kayo, malalaman n’yo ‘yan, pag tanda n’yo, kung umabot pa kayo.”
The star added that those who work at an old age are not doing it for themselves but for their families.
He continued, “Kaya ka nagtatrabaho, pag tanda mo, hindi na para sa sarili mo, para na yan sa pamilya mo.
“Ito, lecture na ‘to, para na yan sa ibang tao, para na yan sa pamilya mo, sa mag-anak mo. Kaya yung mga basher na, ‘Uy pagbigyan niyo naman yung iba,’ ‘Ul*l! Yan ang pwede kong sabihin sa’yo.”
De Leon also remarked that their bashers could not understand them because they did not experience their 44 years with the show.
“Alam mo kung naranasan mo yung naranasan namin na 44 years, ha, nag-e-enjoy kami. Huwag mong pakialaman ang tao pag gustong magtrabaho,” he said.
In regard to the new hosts of the revamped ‘Eat Bulaga!,’ De Leon said that he has nothing against them because they are only doing the job assigned to them.
“Kaya hindi ko masisi yung mga pumalit sa amin, trabaho yan, eh, pabayaan mo sila.”

Viewers can catch TVJ’s new show ‘E.A.T.’ at noontime from Monday to Saturday. It had its pilot broadcast on TV5 last July 1.
