‘FPJ’s Batang Quiapo’ rumored to end early amid ABS-CBN–TV5 rift

Fans of ‘FPJ’s Batang Quiapo’ were stunned by reports that the long-running action-drama series may air only until January 2, 2026, months earlier than expected.

The information surfaced through a column on PEP.ph, prompting widespread concern among viewers who have followed the Coco Martin-led teleserye since its premiere on February 13, 2023 across Kapamilya Channel, A2Z, and TV5.

The original plan reportedly placed the show’s finale around February or March 2026, as several storylines are still unfolding and new arcs have only just begun. However, an insider claims the conclusion may be pushed earlier, which explains why some characters have recently begun exiting the series.

Though no official announcements have been made regarding the show’s early termination, speculation intensified when TV5 terminated its TV Content Supply Agreement with ABS-CBN on December 4, 2025, citing unpaid dues.

ABS-CBN responded by denying that it deliberately delayed payments, clarifying that severe financial constraints due to its franchise loss drastically reduced revenues and forced the company into losses for the first time since its post–Martial Law return.

The network maintains that its financial struggles stem from regulatory actions that removed its primary revenue source, and although some revenue streams have recovered, the company continues to operate at a deficit while rebuilding.

Adding intrigue to the situation were reports of a private meeting between Coco Martin and business tycoon Manny V. Pangilinan on October 23, 2025, weeks before TV5 formally notified ABS-CBN of the contract termination. This meeting has led to speculation that Coco may be exploring future projects with companies under the MVP Group.

Despite concerns from fans, insiders close to the production say they are not alarmed about potentially losing TV5 as a broadcast platform. Their primary concern arose when the ABS-CBN Entertainment YouTube channel, with more than 56 million subscribers, went offline temporarily. Since many viewers rely on YouTube for replays, losing the channel—even briefly—caused far more anxiety. Its quick restoration eased their worries, especially since episodes also remained viewable through CCM Film Productions.

Those connected to the series insist that there is no clear ending yet within the storyline. They note that several arcs are still in early stages and that major developments are still planned. According to one insider, the intended finale remains scheduled for March 2026, or possibly even later, as Coco Martin reportedly has numerous plans for the show and is known for making creative decisions without advance notice.

The cast and crew are currently taping intensively, particularly after Coco returned from a two-week vacation in Spain with Julia Montes. While the production is accelerating its workflow, insiders maintain that this is not necessarily related to any early cancellation.

As the series approaches its second anniversary on air in February 2026, the fate of ‘FPJ’s Batang Quiapo’ remains unclear. With no official statements from ABS-CBN or Dreamscape Entertainment confirming an abrupt ending, the show’s future continues to hang in uncertainty.
