In the recent “Team Galing at Puso” political rally organized by Presidential candidate Senator Grace Poe and vice presidential candidate Senator Francis “Chiz” Escudero in San Carlos City, Pangasinan last February 12, 2016. senatorial candidate Vicente ‘Tito’ Sotto III made some pretty interesting statements about Eat Bulaga and AlDub.
Sotto went on stage and said, “Ito pwede nyong sabihin na suhol. Pero ito suhol talaga. Pag si Grace at si Chiz nanalo dito sa San Carlos City at ang buong slate ng GP (Galing at Puso), itong lahat ng slate kasama mga mayor namin at mga konsehal, dadalhin namin dito ang ‘Eat Bulaga.’” (“You can very well call this a ‘bribe’. If Grace and Chiz wins here in San Carlos City, including the whole GP party slate mayor and councilors; We will bring ‘Eat Bulaga’ here.”)

The senator known for his hosting stint in Eat Bulaga added, “Dito kami magsho-show. Isasama ko yung dalawa. Sinong dalawa? Si Vic, si Joey at saka si Alden saka si Yaya Dub.” (“We will have a show here. I will bring them both here. Who will I bring along? I will bring Vic and Joey…. and Alden and Yaya Dub”)
This brought some mixed reactions from social media as Sotto has previously stated in an Inquirer interview that AlDub will not be politicized.
He stated that, “I am setting the example so that politicians will know we mean it. And we do not want our Dabarkads (gang) to be politicized.”
Sotto said it was better for AlDub to stay politically neutral on which he added that “It’s better that they’re friends of everyone.” But as far as what transpired in the Team “Galing at Puso’s” political rally in Pangasinan, it seems like AlDub is still getting dragged into politics by the very same person who claims that they won’t be politicized.
While AlDub might play it safe and decide to stay ‘neutral’, other Eat Bulaga’s hosts mainly Wally, Jose, and Ruby were still present at the Team ‘Galing at Puso’ proclamation rally in front of the Quiapo Church in Manila in February 9, 2015.
Whether the Eat Bulaga regulars are out to support Sotto or Poe on their own (no money involved) or as paid entertainers was not divulged in the said proclamation rally; unlike Ai-Ai delas Alas who has openly announce support for presidential candidate former Vice President Jejomar Binay and claims she was not paid to perform in the latter’s proclamation rally.
