There’s no doubt that “It’s Showtime’s” ‘Tawag ng Tanghalan’ is giving “Eat Bulaga” a big headache in terms of TV ratings not just on Mega Manila, but also on nationwide.
Eversince the ‘Tawag ng Tanghalan’ premiered on “It’s Showtime” and became the most popular singing competition in the country, numerous singing competition-alikes popped like mushrooms. Take an example on “Eat Bulaga’s” short-lived segments like ‘Grabe S’ya’ (talent search – singing, dancing, etc.) and ‘Just Duets.’ These shows came and bid goodbye without even leaving a mark, as in, if we’re not an Entertainment blog, we’ll never know that there are segments like these on the show’s existence.
And now, barely a week ago, another singing competition emerged on “Eat Bulaga” with the title ‘Lola’s Playlist,’ title was obviously from the Lolas of their ‘Kalyeserye’ involving kids singing the songs of yesteryears, the songs mostly sang on “It’s Showtime’s” ‘Tawag ng Tanghalan.’
