The next chapter of Your Song Presents will be the remake of the 80’s movie Underage. The upcoming series will feature the young love team of Matt Evans and Melissa Ricks who were last seen in the teleserye Iisa Pa Lamang with Claudine Barretto and Gabby Concepcion. At the story conference of Your Song Presents: Underage last Wednesday, February 11, Matt and Melissa said that they will be taking on more mature roles in their new drama mini-series. However, they clarified that the TV version will not be as sexy as the original film. “This is different. Magpapakita kami ng konting skin. This is another step na naman. Kung baga inuunti unti na namin ‘yung paggawa ng more mature roles. We’re kids anymore na rin. We’re still teenagers but we’re going into the transition of becoming adults na. May ilang ‘sensitive scenes’ dito kaya ‘yun ang pinaghahandaan namin,” said Melissa.
Your Song Presents: Underage will be the initial offering in the ABS-CBN ‘teenserye’ which will be the adaptation of some well loved Pinoy teen flicks from the 80’s. Underage was released by Regal Films in 1980 and became the launch pad of Dina Bonnevie, Snooky Serna, and Maricel Soriano as young-adult actresses. Melissa admitted that she is feeling pressured because she will be stepping into the role done by Dina in the original movie. “Malaki ang pressure. I’ll be playing the role done by Dina Bonnevie so I really have to get to know the character. It’s very challenging. Pero excited din kami lahat because we get to give Underage a different a twist dito sa gagawin namin.”
The love team of Matt, a Pinoy Big Brother ex-teen housemate, and Melissa, a Star Circle Quest finalist, began working together in Komiks Presents Pedro Penduko. From then on the two starred in a string of TV dramas and have also grown comfortable with each other. “Aaminin ko super ilang ako kay Matt sa simula, noong Pedro Penduko days namin. But after a while naging close na rin kami because we’re very much alike. Magkaibigan kami kasi nagkakasundo kami sa maraming bagay,” shared Melissa. Matt however confessed that they would often have disagreements, but they always make it a point to patch things up. “Si Mel kasi may pagka-pikon, e ako naman ‘yung mapang-asar. Kaya minsan naiinis sa akin si Mel. Pero sa set naman five minutes after naming mag-away nagiging okay na kami agad. Mga kulitan lang naman. Mahilig kasi akong manundot ng kili-kili (laughs). Naiinis siya minsan. Pero ‘yung grabeng away wala pa naman.”
