“Extra Challenge” was a one-of-a-kind Filipino reality show that has blazed a trail in Philippine television. The show has attracted a wide following after it presented episodes where strange yet amusing predicaments befall on participants. GMA Network began airing the show back in March 1, 1999 and it ended last My 26, 2006. It stayed on the top spot in the afternoon timeslot and many shows tried to depose it out from its post but they were unsuccessful.
The show was formerly a lifestyle show called “Extra-Extra” and it was hosted by now Kapatid news anchor Paolo Bediones. When it was toppled down by the hit Asianovela “Meteor Garden,” it revamped itself into a reality show that pushes its contestants to the limit through its challenges. Once it became a reality show, Bediones had Phoemela Barranda and Mariel Rodriguez as his co hosts.
