July 11, 2013 (QUEZON CITY, PHILIPPINES) – In celebration of 20 years of bringing the most memorable and admired cinematic pieces, Star Cinema shares its anniversary kick off, “Four Sisters and a Wedding,” to Filipinos worldwide via TFC at the Movies. Two weeks after its highly successful Manila premiere and after grossing Php 120 million in just four days, TFC at the Movies brings the touching movie about four sisters set apart but have come together to face a family issue, to key cities in the U.S., Canada and the Middle East.
“Four Sisters and a Wedding” tells of a brood of five bonded by their love for family but are set apart by individual differences and beliefs. After years of being detached both physically and emotionally, they are brought together by the news of their brother’s seemingly abrupt decision to get married.
Multi-media star Toni Gonzaga stars as the spirited eldest sister Teddie who always earns the approval of her mother with her string of achievements. Blockbuster actress Bea Alonzo plays Bobbie, the serious, career-oriented sibling who will do everything to achieve her dreams. Emmy nominee Angel Locsin is Alex, the middle child who challenges both norm and her family. Playing the youngest sister Gabbie is Shaina Magdayao who is left behind to take care of their sick mother played by highly respected actress Connie Reyes. Versatile actor Enchong Dee is the lone male and the youngest child in the family who tries to prove that he is old enough to make decisions.
According to director Cathy Molina, the story is something overseas Filipinos (OFs) can very much relate with. Molina said: “Pareho kasi yung pinagdaaanan ni Teddie at Bobbie. Depende kasi. Marami sa kasama natin ikinahihiya ang totoong trabaho nila, fearing na hindi sila matanggap ng pamilya nila kung ano sila. Pero tayo naman kung pamilya, pamilya. Matatanggap din naman. Si Bobbie naman, gaya ng marami sa ating OFW, grabe yung pinagdadaanan. Mas kailangan ka ng pamilya mo pero sina-sacrifice mo ang sarili mong need. Very, yery Pinoy OF, na nasa ibang bansa natin. Alam mo kung anong sinasakripisyo nilang happiness kapalit ang happiness ng family.” (Teddie and Bobbie are going through the same experience. Some OFs are ashamed of what they do for a living, fearing their families will not accept them. But at the end of the day, the reality is that their families will accept them. Bobbie, like all other OFs, goes through a lot, including sacrificing one’s personal needs and happiness for the sake of family).
Four Sisters and A Wedding is part of Star Cinema’s year-long celebration of 20 years of movie-making. The movie unfolds on the silver screen at the following theatres worldwide:
