On May 21, ‘Your Face Sounds Familiar’ – ABSCBN’s celebrity-reality talent show has revealed its Final Four based on the accumulated and combined scores for the past 12 weeks and revealed the names of Nyoy Volante, JayR, Melai Cantiveros, and Edgar Allan Guzman. But, among the four, the R&B King, Jay-R is considered to be the toughest contender for the title.
Meanwhile, there’s definitely no stopping R&B King Jay-R to getting the plum. Aside from earning the adulation of many Kapamilya #YourFaceSoundsFamiliar viewers, he proudly shared, “I never knew I had a talent to impersonate artist icons. I guess the show brought it out of me.”
JayR added he enjoys doing the show.
“I feel like I’m learning a lot studying the different styles, genres and vocals. I feel like I’m growing as an artist on the show and I love that. It inspires me to make my original songs even better. To elevate as an artist in the music industry.”
Apart from being a celebrity contestant in the show, Jay-R is also busy doing out-of-the-country shows and promoting his new all-original album titled ‘Elevated’, released under his own independent record label–Homeworkz Music.
The album is consists of 14 outstanding tracks with collaborations from Kyla, Mica Javier, Q-York, Gabi Wilson, Jhing, Jimmy Muna, Marié Dibgy, AJ Rafael and Kris Lawrence. JayR’s current single ‘You Are Not Alone’ features the Philippines’ Queen of R&B Kyla.
The album is almost Gold and is receiving extensive critical acclaim from top digital outlets, including from his co-singers in the industry.
Kyla said in an interview that Jay-R’s new album has a different flavor as compared to his past ones. Kris Lawrence, on the other hand, said Jay-R’s has taken Philippines’ R&B to the next level with its standard being elevated.
Jay-R along with the three celebrity-contestants will go head-to-head this coming weekend, June 6 and 7 to be held at Resorts World Manila’s Newport Performing Arts Theater.
Although the celebrities they are going to impersonate have not yet been revealed, the Grand Winner will receive Php2 million pesos. Half of the prize will be given to his/her chosen charity.
The Grand Winner will be decided via text votes.
