Don’t dare Korean Ryan Bang and he will prove you wrong about the Philippines. This is exactly why his first music video titled “Shopping” is created.
Born in Korea but given a big break when he entered showbiz after he placed second on Pinoy Big Brother Teen Clash of 2010, Ryan fell in love in the Philippines. He then decided to dedicate his whole life in our country with open arms and heart. He adapted the culture to blend in and even learned to speak in Filipino. A well-known comedienne that we regularly see in It’s Showtime and Banana Split, some didn’t know the depth of Ryan’s love to our country.
It all started when his two Korean friends commented that Philippines doesn’t have a good shopping malls. Ryan, being a Filipino by heart, gets annoyed a little that’s why he wants to prove them wrong. He wants to show these friends that the Philippines’ shopping malls are way better than in Korea, that is what he said. In Korea, normally they see documentaries about different tourist destinations in the Philippines, so eventually they didn’t see how big and beautiful the shopping malls here.

With the help of Ryan’s friends, they created this production to give life to his concept in promoting the Philippines. The music video “Shopping” is just the start. They will produce more videos aiming to promote the different tourist spots all around the Philippines. Ryan is so overwhelmed with the support of his celebrity friends. They gave him time and effort to make the music video possible even though he doesn’t have to pay their talent fee. Ryan promises that this music video is not going to appear on any music platform. Only on YouTube. He doesn’t want to get paid for this. Simply he just want to really promote the shopping malls in the Philippines.
Comparison to Psy
“Wala akong iniisip na Psy, wala akong kinalaman kay Psy. Siya artist sa Korea, ako dito sa Philippines. Wala akong intensyon na kahit ano. Idol ako siya pero ako ang gusto ko lang ay i-promote ang Philippines. Madami pa kami gustong gawin. Sa YouTube lang. Wala talaga ako balak kumita. Kung gusto ko kumita, sana gawa na lang ako ng album, ibenta ko na lang. Kaya sa YouTube lang para mas madami makapanuod mas madami makaalam so mas madami darating na tourist dito sa bansa. Si Psy din kasi singer at performer. Ako, trip-trip lang pero ginawa naming bongga!”
Any plans of going back to Korea
“May mga kumukuha sa akin. Gusto nila ako gawing guest. Pero sobrang happy ako sa Showtime. Happy yung life ko dito. Gusto ko guesting lang. Yung lilipat ako doon, habang buhay, siguro hindi muna. Enjoy ako dito. Kalahati ng buhay ko, dito eh. Hindi ko maiiwan ang Pilipinas.”
