Claudine Barretto and Jolina Magdangal both started as queens of ABS-CBN. Back in the 90’s, they were lauded as the next Vilma Santos, Sharon Cuneta with Judy Ann Santos as their generation’s Nora Aunor, the superstar.
But things turned out differently with these three queens of TV. While Juday kept her popularity, she focused on her motherhood and changed niche as she tried hosting – something that she skillfully did as her stint was successful. She became the host of Master Chef Philippines and Bet on Your Baby. She did films and teleseryes every so often but she left the primetime scene with the younger talents of ABS-CBN.
Jolina, on the other hand, became one of GMA’s pillars but it seems she needs her glimmer back and when she went back to ABS-CBN early this year, she was welcomed with open arms. She was paired with Marvin Agustin once again in Flordeliza and her stint in Your Face Sounds Familiar was truly remarkable.
Claudine definitely stole the primetime scene along with Juday in 1990’s. While Juday took the audience by storm with her heavy drama, Claudine’s remarkable roles and relateable acting made all her teleseryes her generation’s household favorites. From Mula sa Puso to Sa Dulo ng Walang Hanggan, and her pair-up with Rico Yan and Diether Ocampo – Claudine solidified her ground in the primetime scene.
However, Claudine got involved in controversies and scandals, and shifting to GMA 7 didn’t help her get any more sympathy.
Without our knowledge, back when Claudine and Jolina were in a series together on GMA, Jolens revealed they had a disagreement.
With her revelation, Claudine apparently got mad as she has not been returning Jolina’s calls or messages. According to Barretto: “Matagal na nga namang nangyari iyon, bakit kailangan pang ungkatin?” (That’s so yesterday, why do you need to bring back those kinds of issues?)
When Jolina learned about Claudine’s reaction, she quickly tried to get hold of the situation but it was too late as Claudine seems hurt.
Our informant wishes nothing but good things for both, hoping they’ll be able to patch things up. They’re both Kapamilyas now and their paths will definitely cross, sooner or later.
