Last September 2015 Vic del Rosario emerged as the new Chief Entertainment Strategist of TV5 taking the post from Wilma Galvante when she left the network.
TV 5 is formerly known as ABC 5 an acronym of Associated Broadcasting Corporation which was founded by Joaquin “Chino” Roces in 1960. In the period of 1960 until 1972, TV 5 operated TV and radio services and became the fourth TV network established in the Philippines.
At present, TV 5 has been under different management. Former PLDT chairman Tony Boy Cojuangco took over ABC5 in 2003. Under his leadership, the network gained accolades and was awarded as the “Outstanding TV Station” by KBP Golden Dove Awards. On 2008, ABC5 CEO Cojuangco rebranded and relaunched the network as TV5 and entered in a partnership with Malaysia’s Media Prima.
In 2009, Media Prima pulled it shares and sold it to Manny V. Pangilinan’s company MediaQuest Holdings Inc. which made an official announcement last 2010 of the new program line-up and a new rebranding campaign dubbing the network as the “Kapatid” network.
This coming year 2016, expect major changes at the Kapatid network as Vic del Rosario executes his ideas as the new Chief of Entertainment Programming Strategist for TV5.
Known in the entertainment industry as Boss Vic, he is an accomplished head of Viva Communications Inc. and has good working relations with the local TV giants ABS-CBN and GMA Network by having talents working for both networks. Aside from this, Viva has various joint venture projects with Star Cinema which only proves that Boss Vic has exceeded professionalism with good rapport among people in his industry.
Will there be a time when the friendship among the giant TV networks Kapamilya and Kapuso turned into rivalry? Boss Vic del Rosario has only good words to say “The industry is too small para magpatayan {to kill each other}. We’re here to help each other,” a statement quoted from Phil Star Ngayon article.
When boss Vic del Rosario takes over TV5 network it will create a positive avenue for many displaced people in the TV industry. Actors and actresses who are less active will regain new hopes as Boss Vic innovates the Kapatid network very soon.
