It’s been nearly a week since the controversial 2015 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) ended. Like previous years, everyone involved in the festival wants to know the official gross receipts of every movie shown during the festival. The festival earned a total of P1.020 billion this year which is much higher than last year.
They also revealed that the top 4 movies in no particular order are “The Beauty and The Bestie,” “My Bebe Love,” “Haunted Mansion,” and “#WalangForever.”
The non-disclosure of each movie’s earnings, especially those of the top 2 movies “The Beauty and the Bestie” and “My Bebe Love” has prompted each camp to declare that they are No. 1.
This is what happened during the presscon of “My Bebe Love” that was screened in 15 cities in California and Texas starting January 8, 2016 when Ai-Ai delas Alas insisted that their movie is the top earner.
She got irked when Star Cinema released the total earnings of “The Beauty and Bestie” which emerged as the top grosser. However, the Philippine Queen of Comedy said that she will fight to the death to prove that “My Bebe Love” is No. 1.

“My Bebe Love star Ai-Ai delas Alas reiterated their movie led the most recent MMFF festival. She said that “in our hearts, the heart of AlDub Nation and the Filipino People, they are No. 1 and they did anything and did not cheat,” according to GMAnetwork.com.
“Ayaw ni Lord ang nangdadaya. Karma is a b**ch…kahit ’yung No. 3, pwede din sabihin na No. 1 din sila. (Pero) kahit ano pa ang sabihin nila, ilalaban ko nang patayan, itataga ko sa bato, kami po ang No. 1,” Ai-Ai added.
Ai Ai’s words did not escape the attention of netizens and the Star Cinema staff who accused her of being an ingrate. For a long time, Ai-Ai de las Alas has been with Star Cinema and she bought billions there with her hit movies. Transferring to another station could have changed that, so it’s probably unfair to accuse her former network of using dirty tactics.
With that in mind, do netizens and Star Cinema have the right to accuse her of being an ingrate?
