After being absent in show business for almost two years, it seems like Maricel Soriano is ready to restore her luminescence as an actress.
In his Abante Tonite column, Alwin Ignacio revealed the supposed return of the Diamond Star in showbiz through ABS-CBN. The rumor, however, has yet to be confirmed by the Kapamilya network.
Maricel’s last major project was the film “Lumayo Ka Nga Sa Akin”, produced by Viva Films, and was released in January 2016.
But it was “Girl, Boy Bakla, Tomboy”, a 2013 film starring Vice Ganda, that returned her acting career to the top. She played the main character of Pia Jackstone, where she earned two Best Actress awards. Additionally, the film grossed P421 million worldwide and became the highest-grossing Filipino film in 2013.
In 2014, Maricel was given by GMA Network a main role for its primetime series “Ang Dalawang Mrs. Real”. Her television series bagged a Silver Screen Award from US International Film and Video Festival in 2015. Hereafter, Maricel also earned another award — Outstanding Performance by An Actress in a Drama Program — from Golden Screen TV Awards.
If the rumor is proven to be true, then it might be easy for Maricel to resuscitate her once scintillating diamond star since she will be returning to the Kapamilya network.
