Angelu de Leon is one of the few artists who can actually work on any given project and have that opportunity to cross on different TV networks since she’s considered a ‘freelancer.’
Lately, Angelu is more visible on the Kapuso network because she has been given regular projects in GMA 7 telerserye series. But Angelu revealed that she was supposed to do a guest appearance on ABS-CBN’s top rating primetime show, FPJ’s “Ang Probinsyano.”
“Ang alam ko, there was a guesting dapat for “Ang Probinsyano,” pero hindi na talaga natuloy,” the actress said in one of the interviews during the press conference for her new show, Mulawin vs Ravena on GMA 7.
She can no longer remember what had prevented her from doing the said special appearance on the said show, but she says last year she had a Bell’s Palsy attack. She wasn’t even aware she’s had it.
“Hindi ko alam na meron akong Bell’s Palsy,” she recalled. “I still feel fortunate that despite such condition, I’m still considered for new projects, I’m still given the opportunity to work kahit per project basis,” she added.
Angelu is now part of Mulawin vs. Ravena, the show which will rival FPJ’s “Ang Probinsyano.” She says she’s really thankful to the Kapuso network for continuesly giving projects to her. She narrated, “GMA has been really good to me. I originally came from ABS (she was first discovered via the now defunct hit teen gag show, “Ang TV,” back in the ‘90s.) and I will never forget that. Pero throughout the years, I am happy na it was with GMA that I got my biggest breaks in showbiz. From TGIS (1995), Ober Da Bakod (1992), mas marami talaga akong nagawang projects with GMA 7.”
It will be recalled that Angelu got her biggest break when she signed up with GMA Network and VIVA Television for the youth-oriented show TGIS which aired from 1995 to 1999. It was where her phenomenal love team with Bobby Andrews became an instant hit.
Angelu however clarified that she’s welcome to accept offers from ABS-CBN once she finished her show on GMA 7. She is also happy to be working again with former love team Bobby Andrews and real ex-flame Joko Diaz on Mulawin vs. Ravena.
“Hindi ko alam pa if balik-tambalan kami dito ni Bobby. So far, wala pa kasi kaming eksena together. But if ever, that’s something to look forward to. Wala naman problema for the three of us [Angelu, Bobby and Joko] will be working together on a project kasi lahat kami ay mga pamilyado na.”
