Charice says she will no longer respond when someone calls her Charice anymore. From the time she had decided to change her name and became active again on social media recently, she’s given rebirth with a new name. She now prefers to be called Jake Zyrus.
The transgender international sensation simply wants to be known as Jake Zyrus starting from that day she said hello again on her social media accounts and surprised her followers.
Although some may have spread their love and accepted her decision in ‘killing’ Charice, there were others who frowned upon what she has done. And that includes her own grandmother, Lola Thess.
Goodbye Charice. Say hello to Jake Zyrus! Yes, the singer did exactly what former matinee idol Rustom Padilla did to himself—he dropped his real name and told everyone that “Rustom is dead” and introduced himself as BB Gandanghari.
While some people may have accepted what transgender singer Charice a.k.a. Jake Zyrus had recently done, that is not the case with her own grandmother Lola Thess. It will be recalled that Lola Thess had always frowned at her granddaughter’s decision to come out as a lesbian. The grandmother doesn’t believe that she is a lesbian.
Lola Thess recently turned to social media to release her anger and vent out her thoughts regarding her granddaughter’s decision to change her name and drop her birth name in favour of a guy’s name. She wrote on Facebook [in verbatim]:
“Umuwi ka Charice Pempengco sa mami mo nuon pa man ganyan ng gusto nyong gawin. Gusto mong alisin ang pempengco ang dugo mong galing sa pempengco at relucio ngayon sa pangalan na gusto mo na ano ba yan…pag namatay ka saan ka ililibing ng mga bobong yan na walang pahintulot ang pinagmulan mo paghahanapin kong lahat ng naka involved diyan mga bobo…nuong pinanganak ka naka rehistro ka sa gobyerno ngayon saan ka naka rehistro sa impierno ng mga satanas na nakapaligid sayo ako’y nananahimik lang charice. Tirador din ako lalo na sa mali. Yang pamiyang yan alam ko pero kinukunsinti ka nila. Lahat ng sinabi ko Charice nangyayari alam mo yan. Huwag mo akong sagarin anak.”
“Anak binababoy ng mga ‘yan ang pagkatao naming at kinukunsinti ni charice na salaulain nila nag kaunting nalalabi kong dangal sa pagkatao ko na sila rin ang sumira iba ang pakiramdam ko anak. Matanda na ako para magpatuloy si charice na kababuyan nyang yan…Hindi siya tomboy ako ang makakapagsabi niyan.”
People believe that Charice a.k.a Jake Zyrus’ decision to change her name is an effect of her break up with long time partner, Alyssa Quijano last April.
