- There have been talks that Ria Atayde had been eyeing on joining beauty pageants. According to her mom, veteran actress Sylvia Sanchez, Ria’s been working so hard in trying to lose weight to achieve a sexier and toned body.
- Beauty, brains and loads of talent, it’s no surprise that men would want to court Ria. She was reportedly being wooed by actor Joseph Marco.
- Ria has denied that there’s something else apart from mere friendship that’s between her and Joseph Marco. She says she looks up to him like a big brother and nothing else.
In a recent interview on Tonight with Boy Abunda, Ria Atayde clarified that there’s nothing between her and actor Joseph Marco.

She explains, “Kasi po si Joseph at si Arjo [her brother who played the villain ‘Joaquin’ in “Ang Probinsyano”], they used to work together in “Pure Love.” And since then, naging super na mag-best friend sila. And since m brother is also my best friend, we became like a trio. Until dumating sa point na si Joseph, dumadalaw na sa bahay na hindi lang para kay Arjo, para sa akin na rin.”
Some people deduced right away that they’re playing beautiful music together because they’re often seen to be together. “Kasi kami ni Joseph, we hit that point, yung friendship. Parang kuya siya sa akin.”
When asked if it’s just Joseph’s way of finally getting through her, Ria said: “Ay hindi. Masyado akong maraming alam sa kanya. Masyado rin siyang maraming alam tungkol sa akin. So hindi talaga.”
For Ria, love life can afford to wait. She’s bent on being healthy. In fact, she had lost a lot of weight recently.
She lost almost 40 lbs. “Aside from health concerns, that’s my turning point na nandito na ako sa industry na ito. And it’s part of it. I still have a goal that I want to reach.”

Growing up, she said she was on the heavy side. “I was a fat kid, bitbit ko yun eh. Kaya gusto kong mabago yun.”
According to her she was also bullied before simply because she was chubby. But by the way things are going, she’s determined to reach her fitness goals. There’s no stopping Ria Atayde to do such, not even love.
