  • Paulo Avelino admitted his difficulty in accepting compliments.
  • He also shared his reaction on Lea Salonga’s praises over his Ang Larawan performance.
  • Ang Larawan newly won The Best Picture in Metro Manila Film Festival 2017.

Paulo Avelino recently had an interview on Tonight with Boy Abunda. In the said interview, he unveiled his reaction towards Lea Salonga’s praises over his Ang Larawan, a 2017 Metro Manila Film Festival entry, performance.

Although he already responded to Lea’s tweet, he still shared his experience.

Paulo also told Boy that he actually has a problem with accepting compliments.

“Masarap siyang makakuha ng papuri lalo na sa mga well-renowned na mga katrabaho na kasama natin sa industriya pero ako kasi as a person Tito Boy hindi. Mahina akong tumanggap ng compliment dahil as thankful as I am… At the end of the day kasi isa sa mga problema ko bilang artista ay hindi ako nakukuntento sa gawa ko or sa mga nagawa ko or sa mga roles na nagawa ko. And I always think I could have done it better.”

However, Paulo added that compliments like these help him build his confidence.

“Ang mga mensahe na nababasa ko na ganito, tumutulong rin sa akin para madagdagan yung confidence ko to tackle yung like what I’ve tweeted Miss Lea Salonga or what I replied back I have to tackle more challenging roles.”

In the said tweet, Lea wrote:

“If you’re a fan of #PauloAvelino, I urge you to watch his stellar performance in #AngLarawan. He doesn’t sing as well as the others, but his acting! He will be one of the greatest as he continues to grow!!! Congrats!!!”

Paulo, then, quoted the said tweet and wrote:

“Always doubted myself doing a musical part due to the singing parts might affect my performance. Reading messages like this helps build my confidence to tackle even more challenging roles. Thank you @MsLeaSalonga”
