Alden Richards admitted that he had mixed feelings about starring in a series, Victor Magtanggol, without Maine Mendoza. The public had gotten so used to seeing the tandem in project after project.
On the other hand, Maine is reportedly going to join the cast of the Metro Manila Film Festival entry Popoy En Jack: The Puliscredibles with Vic Sotto and Coco Martin.
Personal growth
Alden also clarified that neither Eat Bulaga nor GMA Network is trying to break AlDub up. It was to be expected that hardcore AlDub fans would react adversely to Alden going solo in a TV series.
“Marami po talagang nag-react na AlDub fans when they learned na I’m doing a soap na hindi si Maine ang ka-partner ko. Pero kasi po, itong buhay natin bilang artista, trabaho lang naman po lahat, walang personalan.”
Alden also pointed out that he and Maine are doing this for their own personal growth.
“Kumbaga, ginagawa ko lang po ito para sa personal growth ko. And I’m sure, si Maine po may mga ginagawa rin for her personal growth.”
Still together
Alden clarified that AlDub is still very much in tact.
“Linawin ko lang po, wala pa pong nagtatapos na AlDub. Hindi pa po tapos ang AlDub. Nandiyan pa rin siya. Kasi maraming nagsasabi, ang Bulaga daw po at ang GMA pinaghihiwalay kami. Parang, kami po kasi, ang take po namin ni Maine, as long as nagkakaintindihan po kami sa mga ginagawa namin, okey po kami.”
These are exciting times for him and Maine, Alden said. They are given the chance to explore other possibilities. But sooner than you can blink your eyes, AlDub will start work on a reunion project.
“This is more for exploration of Alden, exploration of Maine. Para pag bumalik na kami ulit, makagawa po kami ulit ng proyekto as partners, kakaiba na po yung mapapanood nila coming from the exploration na ginawa namin individually.”
Maine supports Victor Magtanggol
Alden is glad to know that his love team partner Maine Mendoza supports his present endeavors.
“Opo naman, of course, for sure. Si Maine naman, very supportive ‘yan. Wala po akong narinig na hindi maganda on her end. So I’m sure she supports Victor Magtanggol.”
Alden and Maine can still be seen together daily in the Kapuso noontime show Eat Bulaga.
“Every day nagkikita pa rin po kami sa Eat Bulaga. Hindi naman po nawawala yun. Kasi kahit nagte-taping ako ng Victor Magtanggol, I see to it, the next day makakapag-Eat Bulaga! ako. So, makikita at makikita pa rin kami ng mga tao together sa Eat Bulaga!”
