  • President Duterte dares the people to take a selfie with God.
  • If they can, the President will surrender his position to Vice President Leni Robredo.
  • Regine Velasquez-Alcasid shares his thoughts about the President’s statement.

President Rodrigo Duterte, in line with his recent quarrels with the Mother Catholic Church, released a statement very recently that he will resign from his position immediately if someone from the Church will prove to him that there is a God.

In his statement, the president specifically said that if anyone shows him a “selfie with God” then he’ll surrender his position to the Vice President Leni Robredo and will stop doing what he does.

The statement received mixed reactions saying that it’s an insult to the Catholic Church while others said he only said that because the Church tends to question his every action. Along with the former is Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez-Alcasid.

The singer wrote on Twitter, “Nalulungot na talaga ako, Hindi ako mahilig makialam sa mga ganito pero”

She followed it with two other tweets asking the president to not include God in politics.

Regine lastly wrote that she will still continue to pray for President Duterte and may God lead him to the right way in leading the country.
