Viewers are in for an explosive drama series from GMA Network should the rumors be true that top Kapuso male stars Dingdong Dantes and Dennis Trillo will star in the small screen offering called Cain at Abel. In the 80’s, the late esteemed director Lino Brocka made a film with the same title which won raves from critics. It starred Christopher de Leon and Philip Salvador as the warring brothers inspired by an episode in the Bible.
Clues
On Instagram last July 21, Dennis Trillo posted a photo of shelves filled with DVDs, a copy of the Brocka movie Cain at Abel prominently displayed.
A plan that resurfaced
In 2011, GMA Network had planned to create a television series out of Cain at Abel, which was supposed to star Dingdong Dantes and Aljur Abrenica, the latter before he transferred networks. GMA Films, however, wanted to produce it in 2013 as an indie movie instead which would have starred Dingdong (again) and Alden Richards. The said movie would have also been based on the Biblical story of Adam and Eve’s two sons: Cain, the wicked one and Abel, the righteous one.
“Giant” primetime show
Fueling talks even more is when Popoy Caritativo, the main man behind Luminary Talent Management and Dennis’ manager, posted a photo with Suzette Doctolero, Cathy Ochoa, and head writer John Roque. He captioned the photo, “Meeting for Dennis’ new giant primetime show.”
