Coco Martin has huge respect for Philippine National Police (PNP), however, PNP Chief General Oscar Albayalde, complained about FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano.
According to Albayalde, the show gives viewers a “bad impression” about the police force.
Coco apologized.
Martin noted that PNP guided and supported the making of the show.
“Nagkataon lang na hindi nagkaroon ng pag-uusap, lalo ngayon na tumatakbo nang tatlong taong mahigit ang Probinsyano. Siyempre, bawat character, bawat kuwento nag-iiba-iba. Ngayon, nagkataon lang na bumaligtad ang kuwento. Mahaba pa ang proseso, mahaba pa kasi ang lalakbayin ng kuwento.”
Due to this controversy, Coco apologized as the lead role and creative consultant of the show.
“Siguro dahil bago ang PNP chief natin…nauunawaan naman natin sila kaya ako mismo humihingi ng paumanhin sa nangyayari ngayon. Sana magkaroon kami ng pagkakataon na makipag-usap para maayos ang lahat ng ito.”

Although they received complaint from PNP, Coco noted that the story won’t change.
“Hindi naman. Siyempre, kailangan pa naming pag-usapan iyon. Honestly, hindi naman siya ngayon lang nangyari. Sabi ko nga, kuwento siya. Ayoko na sana siya palalimin pa, pero sa ikatatahimik at ikakaayos ng lahat, sana makapag-usap at maayos ang mga bagay na hindi pinagkakaunawaan. Sobra ang respeto ko sa kanila, sa ating mga kapulisan at lalong lalo na sa ating bagong PNP chief.”
FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano featured a PNP chief who became one of the main antagonists.
