Angel Locsin is just like any other human being who was once struck with self-doubt. She was too devastated that she almost left ABS-CBN and even submitted a resignation letter.
She, however, overcame and battled against her self-doubt amid a series of challenges in her career and personal life.
Angel revealed that she considered the thought of resigning.
Locsin admitted this during a press conference on Thursday, January 10 for her upcoming primetime series, The General’s Daughter. She noted how she stopped believing in herself and felt as if she was a big disappointment.
“Nawala ‘yung tiwala ko sa sarili ko… Feeling ko I’m a big disappointment noong time na ‘yon. Hindi ko nagawa ‘yung ini-expect of me. Iyon ‘yung nawala sa akin.”
Angel described her feelings in 2016.
Locsin referred to 2016 as the year that broke her.

2015 challenged me. 2016 broke me. 2017 changed me. 2018 opened my eyes. 2019 I’M COMING BACK. After 5 years…. This is Angel Locsin, reporting for duty as Rhian Bonifacio. – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – Reposting from @dreamscapeph : “Ang Pagbabalik ni Angel Locsin sa "The General's Daughter" #TGDSheIsBack ! In 2015, Angel nursed a spine injury which led to her passion project, Darna, not to push through. She, then, sought treatment for her back in 2016 and went through a bitter breakup with then-boyfriend Luis Manzano during the same year.
In 2017, she officially withdrew from Darna and cited her physical condition as the reason from her departure.
Angel shared how ABS-CBN handled her would-be resignation.
Although Locsin did not reveal the details of her past struggles, she noted how Dreamscape team and ABS-CBN executives remained on believing in her and her abilities.
