  • Tons of fresh music comes out each day and to keep up, we’re running down the musical acts poised to break it huge.
  • Featuring genres of pop, acoustic, alternative, rock and heavy metal, the country’s rising artists are creating a buzz with their own brand of OPM sound.

It’s high time to amp up your playlist with these acts as seen in the first One Music Live performance this year:

1. Agsunta

Even if they officially “signed off” from social media they promise to still bring their acoustic and soft melodic rock sound influenced by OPM. “We are just on time off and we want to focus on ourselves and our music more,“ Jireh Singson of Agsunta collectively said for the group.

2. Argo

An alternative rock band, Cane City has members who hail from Tarlac City, a province known as one of the biggest sugar producing locations in the country because of cane. The band plans to reach out and inspire more people with their own twist of music genres, which led to a fast rise in their cult following.

4. Carlito

Don’t let the age of the young punk-rock band prevent you from enjoying their original take on grunge and rock classics. “We want to be one of the bands who will be able to promote OPM, especially now that the band scene is making a comeback,” Carlito band front man, JC Padilla, enthused. JC is the son of “Magandang Buhay” Momshie Karla Estrada and brother to Kapamilya actor Daniel Padilla. The latter also used to play with his brother in another band.

5. Davey Langit

Alternative pop-rock band Unit 406 broke into the OPM scene with their feel-good rock music and candidly shared that they got the group’s name from the unit number of the condo where they all first jammed together, and the rest as they say is history. They got the 5th Best Song for “Tanghaling Tapat” in the Himig Handog 2017 and was recently nominated for “Best Performance by a New Group Recording Artist” for Awit Awards 2018.

From the Tarlac-born rockers to 90’s inspired bands who are set to follow their rockstar father’s footsteps, these are the acts to keep on your radar, along with comebacking legacy bands who are taking their earned space in the OPM spotlight.
