On January 09, it was previously discussed over a welcome and thanksgiving party of Senator Bong Revilla Jr. and he admitted that he has intentions of doing movies again, especially for the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2019.
According to Bandera Inquirer, just this February 5, during a press conference, Revilla officially confirmed his comeback film project.
He stated that he already had an exclusive meeting with Star Cinema for his return in cinemas and he confirmed that there is already a project that is being put together for him.
When he was asked about the theme of the movie. He hesitantly answered and just said that it is a secret for now.
He was also asked if his son Cavite Vice-Governor Jolo Revilla will be part of his first comeback after five years he directly said no, for he will automatically have a father role, instead, he should have a younger role.
“Hindi. Siyempre baka tatay role agad. Kailangan mas bata ako kay Jolo sa pelikula.”
And about his leading lady, he promptly replied that it will be the new Misses Universe Catriona Gray or Pia Wurtzbach,,
Reading between the lines, he obviously wanted Pia to be his leading lady.
Bong Revilla’s comeback to Star Cinema will be very much meaningful, for it will not only be just a comeback but at the same time a reunion.
For in 1993, Bong was the first one to ever star a movie under Star Cinema, it was the movie Adan Ronquillo to which Sherryl Cruz was his leading lady; directed by Joey del Rosario. That was 25 years ago, going to its 26th year this coming May 13 which was its first day of screening.
Bong also raised his awareness against the alarming downfall of local films in cinemas, he said that it is the ticket pricing of cinemas that greatly affected it causing the films flop.
“Oo, ‘yun ang gagawin natin. ‘Yun ang isa sa gagawin natin kung paano natin ibababa ang bayad sa sine. Hindi na makamasa ang presyo. Ang dapat talaga ‘yan ang cheapest entertainment aside from television. Dapat ganoon ang gawin.”
