- Marvel’s Wave designer wants Angel Locsin to portray the Water Warrior
- Angel Locsin declined the role of Wave, the newest Filipino Marvel superheroine
Kapamilya actress Angel Locsin initially showed interest in the character Wave to the thread of Greg Pak, a comic book writer at Marvel.

Locsin earlier tweeted Leinil Yu, Greg Pak, and Sunny Gho, asking the artists for their inspiration behind Wave’s costume.
“I’m excited to learn more about this character! I ❤ that her weapon of choice is a Kampilan, w/c is believed to be the sword Lapu-Lapu used to strike down Ferdinand Magellan. So, [thumbs up] for that! Regarding her costume, I wonder what’s the inspiration behind the design?” Locsin tweeted last March 9, the same day the official sketch of Wave was unveiled.

Wave’s Filipino designer and co-creator Yu said he was eyeing Locsin to portray the new Marvel superhero. “It’s a collaboration of ideas between me, Greg and Marvel editorial:). Would love to see you as wave, Angel!,” Yu tweeted.

However, plans of the upcoming comics being adapted to film have yet to be announced.
Sharing the conversation thread in her IG Stories, Locsin again addressed the Filipino artist, saying: “Can’t stop smiling. Thank you, Sir @leinilyu for the wonderful reply.”

Locsin had played the Filipino superhero ‘Darna’ (GMA Network) in the 2005 TV series, and the half-human, half-Mulawin ‘Alwina’ in the 2004 TV series ‘Mulawin’ (GMA Network). She currently stars as 2nd Lt. Rhian Bonifacio in the TV series ‘The General’s Daughter’ (ABS0CBN), after it took her years to recover from a spine injury.
Her injury also prevented her from reprising her role as ‘Darna’ in the upcoming movie that now stars Liza Soberano as the iconic heroine.
