‘Daddy’s Gurl’ is a comedy series aired on the GMA Network that stars Vic Sotto and Maine Mendoza. Directed by Chris Martinez, the show premiered on October 13, 2018 and has gained positive reviews from viewers. The series revolves around Visitacion “Stacy” Otogan (Mendoza) and her father Barak Otogan (Sotto) and their daily ins and outs living in a condominium in Manila.
Recently, there have rumors that the sitcom will be reformatted and that the new storyline would include a new love interest for Mendoza.
Sotto spoke up regarding the issue and dismissed a possible love team for Mendoza, adding that it was not the right time and that he still believes in the power of AlDub tandem.
“May mga paminsan-minsan naman, may mga episode kami na nagkakaroon siya ng parang love interest. Pero on a regular basis, siguro hindi pa muna. Siguro, sa mga darating na episode, para maiba naman yung takbo ng istorya. Kasi mahirap na, e, dahil may kanya-kanya silang manok ang mga manonood, e. Siguro at this point, neutral muna tayo. Para sa akin naman kasi, ang AlDub, e, hindi naman mawawala yun, e. Kahit na sinong maka-partner nila, AlDub pa rin yun, hindi na mawawala yun,” the comedian shared in an interview.
GMA Network has revealed that they are having a hard time finding a love team partner for the actress since the disbandment of AlDub. Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza as ‘Yaya Dub’ made up the phenomenal love team, but have now gone their separate ways after Mendoza expressed her unhappiness and her feelings of being suffocated in her career through an open letter to her fans.
Their fans’ hopes and fantasies were shattered as the AlDub tandem officially gave their goodbye recently.
In her personal life, Mendoza has been romantically linked to Kapamilya actor Arjo Atayde whom she confirmed she was dating last March.
For his part, Alden Richards is gearing up for his upcoming movie ‘Hello, Love, Goodbye’ with his newest onscreen partner Kathryn Bernardo of Kapamilya Network.
