- GMA Network releases Official Statement on Garcia’s death
GMA Network, through its primetime newscast ’24 Oras’, has released a statement on Eddie Garcia‘s death. The multi-awarded actor-director passed away on Thursday at 4:55 p.m. after suffering from a neck fracture, a hospital confirmed. He was 90.
He tripped and fell while shooting a TV series for GMA Network last June 8 and had been in critical condition. He was officially diagnosed with a severe cervical fracture and was placed on “do-not-resuscitate” status last June 15.

GMA Network deeply mourns the passing of veteran actor Eduardo “Eddie” Verchez Garcia.
“Manoy,” as he is fondly called, will be greatly missed by his family, loved ones, co-workers, and fans.
An accomplished and respected actor and director, he was a movie icon and an industry pillar who have touched so many lives in the Philippine entertainment industry. He left behind a legacy of professionalism, dedication, and love for his craft.
The Kapuso Network joins his family and the whole entertainment industry in mourning his passing.
