One of the strongest contenders in the recently concluded Binibining Pilipinas 2019 pageant was Vickie Marie Rushton. While she won most of the special awards, Vickie, unfortunately, was unable to win a title.
Vickie was one of the crowd favorites going into the coronation night. Bagging five special awards also seemed a good start for the beauty queen hopeful. However, Vickie faltered during the Question and Answer portion which might have cost her points and ultimately the crown.
Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach posted a story on her Instagram account about the coronation night and mentioned Vickie in particular
“My heart also breaks for Vickie. I hope she can try again. I believe this girl is smart. Nerves can happen to even the best of us.
“It’s not easy to compete. Keep your chin up, Vickie.”
Vickie Rushton admitted that she was really distracted during the Q and A portion.
“I know kung ano’ng sasabihin ko. Pero may nag-distract sa’kin sa audience, doon ako nawala.
“May tumayo at nag-make face. Pero of course ‘yung advocacy ko diretso pa rin ‘yun.”
Vickie had won Binibining Pilipinas 1st Runner up last 2018.

Pia also competed in the Binibining Pilipinas pageant three times before winning the Binibing Pilipinas Universe crown. She would go on to win Miss Universe 2015, ending the 42-year long drought for the country.
Pia is set to have an upcoming movie with actor Vhong Navarro.
