Kapuso actress and Dahil sa Pag-ibig lead star Sanya Lopez shared that she had once worked before with the new Darna, Jane De Leon.
Last July 28, Lopez said she was happy that De Leon was the new Darna at a press conference for the movie Isa Pang Bahaghari.
“Ako, I’m happy po kung sino man po yung napili. Si Jane De Leon, nakasama ko po siya one time.”
Lopez even complimented De Leon and said she believes that she deserves the iconic role.
“And ang ganda-ganda niya! I think she deserves it naman.”
While she expressed her happiness that Jane is the new Darna, she added that she would be happy for any actress that would have gotten the role.
“She’s pretty. We’re happy naman sa kung sino man po ang nakuhang Darna.”
Sanya was one of the fan favorites to become next Darna by the netizens. She even said that she’s open to auditioning for Darna if she would be given the chance. But since Darna is produced under ABS-CBN’s Star Cinema, she would have to wait for her home network GMA to give her permission to do so.
“Sabi naman po nila, di ba? Walang imposible. Pero ang sa akin naman po, parang, kumalat po yung audition, sabi ko po sa kanila, basta merong ibinigay na invitation sa GMA for audition, why not po? Basta po pumayag ang GMA.”
She was even happy that she was considered as one of the choices for Darna by fans.
“For me po, nakakatuwa na kinu-consider nila ako as Darna kasi hindi naman basta Darna lang si Darna. She’s an icon and sobrang strong ng personality and an empowered woman. Sabi ko nga po, kapag kinonsider ka nang ganito, nakakatuwa po talaga.”
Director Ricky Davao even compared Sanya to Star for All Seasons Vilma Santos.
“She reminds me of the young Vilma Santos kasi, gaya ni Ate Vi noong araw, she doesn’t mind doing sexy scenes at magaling talaga sa drama.”
Netizens even showed their support to Sanya in seeing her as Darna.
But now, the search for the new Darna is over. Jane De Leon was announced as the new Darna last July 17.
