- Dennis Padilla allegedly confirms breakup of Bea Alonzo and Gerald Anderson; Alonzo clarifies
- Padilla also supposedly confirmed that Gerald was courting his daughter Julia Barretto
Bea Alonzo and Gerald Anderson have broken up, that’s according to a source of PEP.ph, someone close to Julia Barretto’s father, Dennis Padilla.
According to the report, a Cabinet Files source revealed that Dennis Padilla called Anderson after learning about the controversy which involved his daughter. Anderson allegedly confessed to Padilla about courting Barretto and confirmed that he and Alonzo have broken up.
The article says, “Ayon sa Cabinet Files source, umiral ang pagiging ama ni Dennis kaya tinanong niya si Gerald kung bakit ang kanyang anak na si Julia ang sinisisi sa breakup ng aktor at ni Bea. Sa naturang pag-uusap, kinumpirma umano ni Gerald kay Dennis na nililigawan niya si Julia. Umamin din daw ang Kapamilya actor na hiwalay na sila ni Bea.”
But this confirmation by Padilla was denied by Alonzo.
According to Alonzo during the cast presentation this afternoon, July 26, of her newest drama series on ABS-CBN, there was no formal breakup between her and Anderson. “He said that? Honestly, to my understanding we did not break up. He just started not talking to me.”
Ghosting according to Urban Dictionary is “the act of suddenly ceasing all communication with someone the subject is dating, but no longer wishes to date. This is done in hopes that the ghostee will just ‘get the hint’ and leave the subject alone, as opposed to the subject simply telling them he/she is no longer interested.”

Alonzo’s Instagram activities, specifically her streak of liking posts related to Gerald Anderson and Alonzo’s former A Love to Last co-star Julia Barretto, were taken as clues by fans as to the context of her mysterious message last July 21. Alonzo and Anderson reportedly started dating in 2010 but only stayed friends at first following his breakup with actress Kim Chiu.
Alonzo, meanwhile, was in a relationship with Zanjoe Marudo for four years until they officially called it quits in 2016. It was the same year when Alonzo and Anderson apparently started dating again after they co-starred in How to Be Yours. They had been in an on-and-off relationship since then.
Amid the cheating allegations, Julia’s family came to her defense. Her mother, Marjorie Barretto said that Gerald and Julia were together at a party with friends and the netizen who spread the photos just put malice by insinuating that Gerald and Julia were dating. Dani Barretto defended her sister by saying: “Nag-usap lang sa party, at may chismosang nag-decide mag-picture, cheating na agad? Bawal ang ‘hi’ sa isa’t isa, bawal magkamustahan? Cheating na agad ‘yun?! They worked together!! Of course, they’re friends! Pati ‘yun bawal na din?”
