Liza Soberano sustained a finger injury during a fight scene on the set of Bagani in August 2018.
It was reported that actor Justin Cuyugan accidentally fractured Liza’s finger while taping the fight scene. Her index finger was hit by a sword in the middle of the dramatic fight. She was then rushed to the hospital after the unfortunate accident.
Little did she know that this injury was going to seriously affect her career.
Liza, who was supposed to portray the role of Darna in the new movie remake by Star Cinema, tearfully announced last April that she had to withdraw from the titular role of Darna, in the latest setback to beset the film project since it was first announced in 2014. This was due to her injured finger which was hindering her from doing the action sequences properly.
The bones of her finger were crushed due to the accident, limiting the motions she can do with her hand. While she has undergone surgeries to address the fracture, she is still unable to move her finger as normally like the others, given that the joint was also damaged.
The actress flew to Los Angeles in the United States months ago to undergo surgery to remove the metal plate on her right index finger.
On July 6, she recuperated from her fourth and final finger operation in L.A. She shared several photos from the surgery, including one where a metal plate is shown inserted in her injured index finger.
She wrote on Instagram:”⚠️ Caution graphic content ⚠️ Finally done with my last procedure in hopes of fixing my finger. Unfortunately, it will never function the same way again but at least it’s there!”
She also added an apology for sharing “gruesome photos” from the said surgery.

After her withdrawal from the Darna movie, the actress is now preparing for her upcoming teleserye and movie with real-life boyfriend Enrique Gil.
It was last April when Liza’s manager Ogie Diaz confirmed that she will have a teleserye and a movie with Enrique. This was announced on Twitter by entertainment journalist MJ Felipe.

Philippine tabloid Abante reported that the taping of their series had already started though Liza is still recovering in U.S. after her surgery.Rumors say that the said taping will take place in a province somewhere in the South.

According to Ogie Diaz, the series will be under Star Creatives,t he production unit behind their last three TV series together — Forevermore (2014), Dolce Amore (2016), and Bagani (2018).
